The purpose of buffer tanks (Accumulators) is to store process fluids to ensure adequate supply for downstream equipment and processes at all times. It is thus essential to continuously monitor the level and ensure that there is sufficient liquid in the vessel to prevent a run-dry situation or to avoid overfilling of the vessel which may result in an overspill. Point level switches may be installed at high and low level positions in the vessel for high and low level alarm.
