Workforce training will help industrial operations to maximize performance, sustainability and safety using advanced measurement technology

CLUJ-NAPOCA, Romania (June 27, 2022) – Emerson this week inaugurated a new training center at its Cluj campus focused on the company’s Rosemount™ and Micro Motion™ advanced measurement solutions used within the pharmaceutical, wastewater, chemical and energy industries.

The training center, designed to support both in-person and virtual training, will host presentations and training courses for Emerson customers and employees from across Europe. These will outline measurement instrumentation capabilities, applications, installation and start-up procedures, and lifecycle service and maintenance requirements.

Each of the 12 in-person working stations has video equipment, skids and products that replicate real-life conditions, providing a fully immersive video training experience. The center can train more than 500 employees and customers each year through online and in-person capabilities.

In collaboration with local educational institutions, the training center will also host students exploring career opportunities with Emerson. Emerson has ongoing collaborations with Babeș-Bolyai University and Technical University, and officials from both universities attended the inauguration event.

“The inauguration of the Cluj training center continues Emerson’s commitment to support the needs of our customers across Europe,” said Jon Stokes, Emerson group president for its measurement, flow and analytical businesses, who attended and spoke at the official opening. “This training center will help prepare the next generation of digital workers and ensure that our customers have the knowledge and expertise to maximize the performance of our technologies, so their industrial facilities run as safely and efficiently as possible.”

“It is a great pleasure to acknowledge that one of the most important companies operating in Cluj-Napoca and one of our strategic partners continues to develop and diversify its activities in this area,” said Professor Adrian Petruşel, Ph.D., vice-rector for RD&I at Babeş-Bolyai University Cluj-Napoca. “Emerson’s new training center covers an under-exploited area in the relationship between business environment and universities. Babeş-Bolyai University, as the largest and one of the most prestigious universities in the country, wants to continue our fruitful collaboration with Emerson including activities with and for our students and cooperation in research and innovation areas.”

"The new center opened by Emerson in Cluj-Napoca is a confirmation that Emerson recruits from the universities in Cluj, and especially from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (TUCN), as well as a validation of the quality of our education,” said Professor of Engineering Daniela Popescu, Ph.D., prorector at Technical University of Cluj Napoca. "At the same time, this center represents an opportunity for our students and teaching staff. Our university is training generations of talented and visionary graduates, many of whom find themselves in key positions at companies such as Emerson. We are flexible, open and creative in this relationship, and we seek to mutually support our collaboration.”

The opening of the training center coincides with the one-year anniversary of the startup of two production lines at Cluj-Napoca for the manufacture of pressure and differential pressure transmitters. These measurement and monitoring products are shipped to customers across Europe and help them operate efficiently and safely, meet environmental goals and maximize performance and profitability.

Emerson established its first production facility in Cluj-Napoca in 2007 and the company campus has grown to include four functional services centers, an engineering hub and seven manufacturing units. Emerson Cluj-Napoca employs expertise in engineering, IT applications and software development, finance and accounting, customer care, supply chain and more.
