Eddy Current Converters and Sensors
The AMS EZ 1000 measurement chain simplifies ordering and reduces the total cost of ownership for eddy current measurements.
Historically the various elements of an eddy current measurement chain have been expensive to keep on hand for replacement or outage planning. Factory-required calibration of the converter meant dozens of spare parts or long lead times for replacements. The new AMS EZ 1000 sensor can be calibrated in the field for most applications with a simple button push. Converter calibration makes use of a USB interface back to Emerson’s Machine Studio for a simple three-step configuration process.
Emerson and 3rd party sensors can be calibrated in one of three ways:
1. Automatically for new and replacement installations.
Simply connect the sensor to the converter and hold it straight up overhead while pressing the SET button on the AMS EZ 1000. Hold the button until the green LED turns off. The green light will come on again indicating a successful calibration.
Calibrate Sensors using Two-Point Calibration or Manually
1. Two-point process for when the sensor cannot be removed from the machine. Two-point calibration is accomplished by setting the volts and diameter of the sensor to be calibrated.
2. Manual when the calibration data is already known. Simply enter the data into the component library.
