Hydrocyclones separate and classify fine and coarse materials prior to flotation. Fines, or right sized particles, pass through the top of the hydrocyclone (vortex) for processing, while heavier solids discharge though the bottom of the hydrocyclone (apex) and back to regrind or directly to tailings. Isolating the hydrocyclone feed allows the system to maintain pressure, volume and separation.
The following products are capable of providing zero leakage shutoff of hydrocyclone feed and discharge lines. They are also engineered for rapid, on-site repair with convenient spare parts kits to minimize downtime and maintenance costs.
Many manufacturing processes have challenging fluids flowing through their pipes and vessels. Mining and minerals have some of the most challenging with abrasive and corrosive solids in the flowing fluids. In a Valve magazine article, Challenges of Medium Density Slurry Service in Mining and Mineral Processing, Emerson’s Mike Gordon describes innovations in knife gate valve …
read moreAuthor: Douglas Morris One of the most ubiquitous operations in any mine is the use of hydrocyclones (cyclones) in the comminution circuit to sort particle sizes for mineral processing. Downstream of this process is the flotation circuit, which can be adversely affected if there is an upset with cyclones. Poor cyclone performance will impact recovery, …
