Mike Baughman is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Emerson. In this role, he is responsible for the company’s global financial strategy and operations. Baughman also is a member of Emerson’s Office of the Chief Executive, which helps develop and guide the company’s global business strategies.

Mike joined the company in 2017 as vice president and controller. In this role, he has upheld Emerson’s commitment to operational excellence and supported the company’s portfolio reshaping efforts, particularly through execution in evaluating transactions and preparing businesses for sale. 

With more than 35 years of finance experience across technical and business roles, Mike brings a wealth of knowledge to the role of CFO. Prior to joining Emerson, he held a variety of corporate finance and accounting roles of increasing responsibility over 14 years at Baxter International. During Mike’s tenure at Baxter, the company was active in M&A and split into two companies. 

Mike also worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers for 16 years, where he was named a partner and specialized in transactions and auditing. In this role, he also gained valuable exposure to a variety of company operating environments and industries, from high-tech healthcare to foreign inbound investments.

Highly supportive of Emerson’s cultural transformation and DE&I efforts, Mike is involved in several of the company’s employee resource groups. Outside of Emerson, he serves on the investment committee for the Saint Louis Science Center. 

Mike has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
