Nick Piazza was appointed Emerson’s chief people officer in August 2023. In this role, he leads the company’s human resources function, including employee experience, culture, end-to-end talent management, total rewards, diversity, equity and inclusion, acquisition integration, organization development and effectiveness, and human resources technology. 


Piazza is a member of Emerson’s Office of the Chief Executive, which helps develop and guide the company’s global business strategies. He also serves as executive sponsor of the company’s Diverse Abilities employee resource group.


During his 19-year career with Emerson, Piazza has served in eight roles and lived on three continents. He joined Emerson in 2004 and served in human resources management and executive roles with increasing responsibilities at four U.S. locations over a 10-year period. 


From 2014-2016, Piazza was based in London for Emerson’s Network Power business, serving as vice president of human resources for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region and as general manager of a Munich-based business with $25 million in sales. After Emerson sold the Network Power business in 2016, Piazza stayed on with the new company Vertiv as vice president of human resources in EMEA for seven months.


In July 2017, Piazza rejoined Emerson as the Singapore-based vice president of human resources in Asia-Pacific for the company’s Automation Solutions business. In this role, he managed HR programs and services for Emerson’s 17,000-plus employees across the region. 


In August 2021, Piazza was promoted to vice president of global talent and oversaw enterprise-wide talent management activities. He was given additional responsibility to lead HR operations in October 2022.


Piazza serves on the board of directors for the St. Louis chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. 
Piazza has a bachelor's degree in finance, a master’s degree in human resources and industrial relations and master’s of business administration, all from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
