Next Generation of DeltaV Smart Switches and Safety Switches lower the cost of off-the-shelf components and offer easy integration and configuration flexibility
AUSTIN, Texas (Nov. 13, 2023) – Global software and engineering leader Emerson has introduced the next generation of DeltaV™ Smart Switches and Safety Switches designed with a focus on enhancing security and improving performance in today’s hostile environments.
The new smart switches reduce the cost of commercial off-the-shelf components with DeltaV-specific software and features that are designed to ensure easier integration and plug-and-play readiness in the DeltaV area control network (ACN), safety networks and other networks external to the ACN.
DeltaV Smart Switches require no special configuration to function in DeltaV networks and are pre-configured to detect man-in-the-middle-attacks. Easy-to-access advanced features in the DeltaV Network Device Command Center help ensure smart switches on the network are configured consistently and securely. More powerful central processing units (CPU) provide increased performance and switching application-specific integrated circuits provide new capabilities like increased network buffers for improved CPU utilization and non-blocking architecture, which enables higher availability of the DeltaV system.
Network alerts and diagnostics are automatically reported to DeltaV workstations, and the DeltaV Network Device Command Center application provides the interface to diagnose and troubleshoot network problems. All are built-in without the need for third-party applications for network monitoring.
